Whose Hegemony?

The US is clearly the hegemonic power since the fall of the Berlin wall in1989. The hegemonic power of the US is clearly out on display in the recent wars of Afghanistan, Iraq and now Libya. These three wars were started by the US and are examples of aggressive display of power, not self defense. The war in Afghanistan begun without the consent of the UN Security Council. The UN charter says that waging war aggressively is not permitted. However, because the US is a global hegemonic power, especially in it’s militaristic prowess, it can circumvent international law by waging aggressive wars.
The length of the war is likely to turn young afghans and other civilians against the US who would otherwise be neutral, because nobody likes to live in an occupied country. How is it even possible to win the war in Afghanistan since it is not a war against an army? I think this war just fuels resentment towards the US because violence causes more violence, sadly the US tax payer has to pay the cost. Most of the US population is against the war in Afghanistan according to a study done by PIPA (Program of International Policy Attitudes) at Maryland University.
